According to the industrial devdelopment, the increasement of female laborer was accurred. And so complete scalp avulsoin was more frequent due to the rotatory machinery. Complete scalp avulsion results in serious consequences, including hospitalization, economic loss, devasting disfigurement, and psychological effects on the patients. Although the treatment varies according to the level of avulsed scalp, It is mainly divided into two methods; microreplantation and skin graft by use of avulsed itself, or other donor site. In this paper, four patients suffering complete scalp avulsion from Apr. 1983 to Sept. 1985 are discussed.
The most excellent results are obtained with microreplantation. The better results are obtained if the sking graft is done with avulsed scalp itself than other donor sites are selected. If the avulsed scalp is used as donor site, the thick or full thickness skin graft can be done without scar on the other site. And so more or less padding effect can be obtained. If the level of avulsion injury was more superficical than the galea aponeurotica, or the injury of vessels on the avulsed scalp is severe, it is better to do skin graft with the avulsed scalp itself as soon as possible.
